In August of 2003, IRD acquired the German based company PAT Traffic, located in Europe and the United States. PAT's product offering includes weigh-in-motion systems, traffic data collection systems, portable weigh scales and other related ITS products and services.
IRD is the world leader in the manufacture and installation of various Weigh In Motion (WIM) technologies. IRD has 7 WIM system technologies available, including the PAT Bending Plate Scale. The PAT Traffic Bending Plate design has become the industry standard worldwide for low profile WIM scales. With numerous sales around the world, the IRD and PAT Traffic brand names are recognized for quality and innovation.
With PAT, IRD has added the following equipment to its product lines.
As part of the acquisition of PAT and PAT Traffic, IRD also acquired two new operations, PAT Traffic Chile (located in Santiago), and International Traffic Corporation (ITC) located in Spring Grove, Illinois. PAT Traffic Chile continues to install and maintain the PAT Bending Plate systems, as well as the PAT Traffic DAW 300 portable Slow Speed WIM system. PAT Traffic Chile will serve as the South and Central American base of operations for IRD. ITC continues to manufacture the ITC line of traffic counters and classifiers, as well as supporting the PAT Traffic SAW line of portable Wheel Load Weighing equipment.
With the acquisition of the PAT and PAT Traffic products, IRD has now expanded its worldwide presence to over 8225 lanes of equipment. Moving forward, IRD intends on merging the best of the IRD product line with the best of the PAT and PAT Traffic products to continue to be the most respected company of our type in the world.
